Appendix A. The 93 primitives
Generated from the sealed primitive cards by research_report/build_appendix_a.py; re-run it to re-derive this table. Columns: tier; polarity; hard stop (with threshold); authored severity weight; axiomatic flag (not read by the runtime); outgoing relations by kind (co-activation, suppression, warning); corpus citations; positive and negative exemplars; whether a structural rule can light the primitive on the agentic path (24 can); and whether it is reachable at all given a fully populated reading (91 are; 2 detect patterns across turns and are reachable by no rule or relation).

Appendix B. Evidence traceability
The rule: a figure enters the report only after it appears here with its source. A figure that cannot be traced does not enter the report.
Built 2026-10-10 at the main repository HEAD 2a6a2a3. Instruments run from the asset root with PYTHONPATH=., offline, no model, no key, no spend.
| status | meaning |
|---|---|
| RE-DERIVED | re-run on 2026-10-10, output witnessed, matches the published value |
| TRACED | read from a committed record (file and commit); a live-model run, not re-run without spend |
| PRIOR-GEN | a result of an earlier runtime generation; reported only as such, never as current |
| CORRECTED | a carried figure the record contradicts; the record’s value replaces it |
| NOT RUN / ABSENT | pre-registered and not run, or a dataset that does not exist |
| PENDING | trace or re-run not yet complete; does not enter the report until resolved |

E. Not run, not built, or absent
- Real-visitor with/without dataset: absent by design. Telemetry is closed and records no visitor words; it is never de-anonymised. The with/without comparison that exists is B2.
- Phase 1B (same reader question on NL2Bash): pre-registered
61dafa1, not run. - Venue resolver (AgentHarm’s 12 intake-gap pairs): pre-registered
388f2f3, not built. - Interoception probe study: protocol v0.1 at
MORIS_INTEROCEPTION_PREREGISTERED_STUDY.md(untracked), not run, no GPU rented. - Counterfactual suite named as the next experiment by the MoralChoice paper: not run.
- Oracle-context decomposition on AgentHarm: designed 2026-10-10, not run by the operator’s ruling (“we write the paper on what we have done, not create new tests”); offered as open study (a), protocol at
research_report/OPEN_STUDY_A_ORACLE_PROTOCOL.md. - Matched doctrinal training baseline: never run (a threat to validity, stated as one).
- Multi-agent coherence: a hypothesis, untestable at present scale.
- “The weight sits near zero for grief” (locked description): a measurement to locate, or the report states it as a design property with a re-derivable worked example. PENDING.
F. Decisions (as of 2026-10-10)
All of D1 to D6 were ruled; then superseded in part. Open source and disclosure void: “everything is open source, the entire project, or will be”; “all prior disclosure rulings are void”; the books excepted (“they are not published or open”). The release scope was delegated: see RELEASE_PLAN.md. D5 (the oracle decomposition) was reversed: the report covers what was done. D3 (status line) was revised away from “first phase”. D4 resolved: the Grammar trilogy enriched the cards after the primitives were built, and supplied the specification’s operators. D6 stands: a new Zenodo record. The patent stays proprietary (operator, 2026-10-10): the information is open source, the process is patented and licensed, and no pledge or code license with a patent grant is made (RELEASE_PLAN.md s4). Version 1.0 of the report had stated an intended pledge; withdrawn in version 1.1.

Appendix D. Chronology and decision log
The program ran from November 2025 to October 2026, from CASA to MORIS. This appendix records it in order, with the record behind every entry. Part 1 is the chronology, grouped into five periods. Part 2 is the register of the doctrines and rulings that governed the work, each with its date, its record and its reason. Part 3 records the terms that were closed without entering the report, and one limit of the record.
Sources. File dates and document metadata on the operator’s machine for the period before version control; the commit history of the main repository (1,660 commits, 2026-04-15 to 2026-10-09), the CASA repositories (casa-runtime, casa-uia, casa-runtime-engine-proprietary, March 2026), the live-service repository, AskMoris, resonance-website and absent-party-harm; the ADRs; the prior-generation records under prior/; and the operator’s recorded rulings. A date taken from a file’s modification time is marked (file date) and is the latest it can be, not necessarily when the work began.
Part 1. Chronology
Period 0. The corpus, and the turn toward machines (to November 2025)
| date | event | record |
|---|---|---|
| 2025-09-06 | The Canon close statement and the living writing rules (file date) | Canon Close Statement from Author.docx |
| 2025-09 to 10 | The twelve books of the Resonance Series in final form; copyright registration prepared for twelve | allcanonbooksandessays.zip (2025-10-15), Canon Copyright Spreadsheet.xlsx (2025-10-20) (file dates) |
| 2025-11-15 to 17 | Continuance governance for institutions: the CAOS constitutional diagram pack, audit protocol, authority and definitional guardrails, coherence standard, amendment protocol | Continuance_Constitutional_Diagram_Pack.docx and four companion PDFs (file dates) |
Period 1. CASA (November 2025 to March 2026)
The first attempt: make the Canon a substrate an AI agent reasons inside.
| date | event | record |
|---|---|---|
| 2025-11-26 | CASA Master Architecture v1.0, “Canon Alignment Substrate Architecture”: “a foundational alignment substrate for advanced AI agents”, providing “a drift resistant intent structure” and “an internal constitutional governance layer derived from the Leadership Canon”. The Canon Primitive Schema v1.0 sets the extraction template; its source references run Book I to XII. The CASA Constitutional Specification v1.0 inherits all ontology from the four trilogies of Books I to XII and forbids interpreting “motivation, intention, bias” | CASA_Master_Architecture_v1_0.docx, CANON_PRIMITIVE_SCHEMA_v1_COMPLETE.docx, CASA_Constitutional_Specification_v1.0.docx (file dates) |
| 2026-01-21 | Provisional 63/964,757, CASA (“Constitutional Alignment Scoring Architecture”): governance by system-prompt injection, the model reasoning inside the governance and the output evaluated before delivery | the filing set and the USPTO receipt, in the author’s patent files |
| 2026-01-22 | Master primitive registry v1.0.0 locked: 93 primitives; card schema v1.0.0 | CASA_MASTER_PRIMITIVE_REGISTRY_v1_0_0_LOCKED.json (version_date 2026-01-22) |
| 2026-02-21 | Provisional 63/987,813, MORIS: “Deterministic Pre-Execution Control Plane for Structured Execution Requests Using Canonical Vector Mapping and Constraint Propagation”. The first statement of the deterministic gate | filing receipt (mailed 2026-04-03) |
| 2026-01 to 03 | The Grammar of God trilogy (Books XIII to XV) is written during the MORIS research; by 2026-03-27 the corpus is described as fifteen books | prior/docs/foundation_of_ac.docx (created 2026-03-27) |
| after 2026-02-21, by 2026-05-11 | The deontic specification: 93 SDL files and 93 truth tables; per the formalization methodology, the operators derive from the seven conjunctions of Book XV (AND, OR, BUT, IF, BECAUSE, ALTHOUGH, AND THEN); five are used. The SDL template cites provisional 63/987,813, so the specification post-dates 2026-02-21; its first tracked state is 2026-05-11 | formalization/docs/formalization_methodology.md; 2cd3e71 |
| 2026-03-10 to 22 | The CASA runtime: a semantic intake classifier over the 93 primitives and 279 edges, an exemplar index, a govern-packet builder, an enforcement loop; the Moral Geometry Encoder (MGE) v1.1 as the instrument that “hears language and maps it to moral geometry” | casa-runtime (26 commits), casa-uia (16), casa-runtime-engine-proprietary (12); MORIS_Open_Items_March_2026.docx |
| 2026-03-23 | Freeze: gate calibration 20/22, enforcement tests 27/27, live harness 10/10. Full validation: 300 executions over three providers; 117 hard blocks at a mean 2.3 ms with no model call; “zero harmful outputs”, counting model refusals as safe outcomes. Same day, “Proof of Artificial Conscience” | prior/docs/FREEZE_20260323.txt, MORIS_100_Full_Validation_Report_20260323.docx, MORIS_Artificial_Conscience_Proof_Final.docx |
| 2026-03 | The open-items memo (pressure-tested): the fiction-framed explosive request produces zero bucket scores; the household-chemicals bomb request routes GOVERN because the accept bucket wins (6.3427 against 4.1009 for refuse). Diagnosis in its own words: the encoder “is doing proximity matching.” Ruling: “Further exemplar-based retraining is not the next move”; “the encoder is the ear; the law is what evaluates what the ear heard” | prior/docs/MORIS_Open_Items_March_2026.docx |
| 2026-03-27 | “On the Foundation of an Artificial Conscience”: fifteen books as the foundation for “one instance of Artificial Conscience. Not the only possible instance.” The answer to “who gave you the right to choose the morality” begins here | prior/docs/foundation_of_ac.docx |
What Period 1 taught. Semantic proximity is not perception of an act. An embedding hears vocabulary; a frame (“I’m writing a thriller”) moves the vocabulary far enough to silence the signal while the act asked for is unchanged.
Period 2. MORIS-AC and the law layers (April to June 2026)
The second attempt: keep the model out of the judgment and read the structure of the request deterministically, through a parser.
| date | event | record |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-04 | T2.6 adversarial validation: 21 cases in 7 categories through the full stack (normalization, MGE encoding, derivation, conflict engine, execution gate). Coercion, psychological harm and power asymmetry produce no primitive activation; the model, not the gate, produces the safe behavior | prior/docs/MORIS_T2.6_Adversarial_Validation_Report.docx |
| 2026-04-15 to 18 | The main repository begins: the AC constraint constructor (a Layer 1 admissibility gate and a clause library), a post-inference verifier, the conscience loop, 39 hostile tests; frozen as AC-FULL-PATH-FREEZE-v1.0 | 22982a1, e9ae162, dbe0f62, 5ed30a9, 75af036 |
| 2026-04-20 to 26 | Phases A and B: Abstract Meaning Representation (AMR). AMR parse evidence on five probes; an AMR-to-CAV rule table; pattern, suppressor and rule libraries; a hybrid Layer 1 extractor | 8cb63e2, b7fd2c4, db37d5f to 43452af |
| 2026-04-22 | The 50-case corpus at 48/50, held across four changes; the Layer-1 CAV veto raises model invocations from 9 to 40. Finding: post-inference over-fire on 12 of 13 REFUSE cases with helpful answers, “semantic-proximity retrieval without structural gating” | 56eaa1b, ef8eca2, f68b2e9, 72e3e4b |
| 2026-04-24 | Phase D roadmap: specification-first reconstruction. “First instance of artificial conscience must be bulletproof even if it takes ten years. No deadlines. No shipping pressure. No compensating mechanisms ever again.” Refinement “flows from the primitives and the Canon outward, never from runtime pressure inward” | feec759 |
| 2026-04-27 | The evasion walker rejected. A structural AMR signal for evasion recalled 1 of 3 evasions and flagged 9 of 9 legitimate prevention requests: “The same structural shape encodes safety, privacy, operational coordination, confidentiality, AND evasion.” Doctrine locked: “The parser constructs reality. The primitives judge reality.” | ef9a246 |
| 2026-05-05 | Workspace source map locked; Phase E: evidence foundation, propagation, constitutional composition, a truth-table fidelity harness. The 50-case bar reset: 48/50 “through structural correctness (not compensating vetoes)”. No later run against that bar is recorded | prior/SOURCES.md; bb8090a to 1c397ff |
| 2026-05-11 | Constitutional Doctrine v1.0, Intentionally Unresolved Predicates: unresolved-by-design distinguished from unresolved-as-gap; forced resolution, collapse to GOVERN, and treatment as runtime failure all forbidden. The substrate migrates under version control the same day | dfeee9b, 2cd3e71 |
| 2026-05-13 to 15 | The Layer 1 evidence diagnostic (seven inputs, each adding one structural element); ADR-PhaseD-019 to 024: authorization pass-through, the 17-field Layer1Output superseding the 10-field legacy CAV, the first compositional ADR (harm signal) | 5dbae9e, fa9fdf4, d38a971, 3542beb, f17e909, 7e666e1 |
| 2026-05-27 | Phase E reachability MVP: all 93 reachable through the authorization axis | 9120929 |
| 2026-06 | Phase F: an operative-request signal (“The compiler preserves; it does not interpret”), interrogative and coordinated-request recognition, explicit person-patient recognition, delegated harm with bounded one-hop descent; 243 commits in one week | 8b868fb, bd22c19, 70ed1bd, c514769; prior/docs/decisions/ADR-PhaseF-OPR-001-operative-request-signal.md |
| 2026-06-08 | The parser’s verb misrecognition found to be verb- and construction-specific (“deceive” a hard BLANK); no walker remedy admissible | e6b8d6d |
| 2026-06-12 | A superseding corpus seal corrects an extraction defect: 52 organs carrying null-verdict rules beneath a surface that had looked faithful | 0a38004 |
| 2026-06 (late) | Contract seals (the GOVERN package, the conscience trace, the invocation membrane, the model invocation, the post-inference verifier); Stage 3 and Phases 7 to 9; Phase 12A canonical constitutional object | 5e0d33f, 456bfe7, e870751, d7dba06, 9bee618 |
What Period 2 taught. Deterministic parsing is truthful and sparse. It emits only what is structurally present, and most of what a conscience needs is not structurally present in a single sentence. Where structure is present, the same structure carries opposite purposes.
Period 3. Recognition (late June to mid July 2026)
The third attempt: recognize, from text, which primitives a request engages, with every method available, and certify each instrument against authored traps.
| date | event | record |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-07-01 | Exemplar enrichment: 2,359 positive and 1,760 negative exemplars added to the 93 cards from proposals grounded in the fifteen-book corpus, operator-ratified, append-only | 0904a8a, provenance c91a69c |
| 2026-07-01 | The recognition ceiling. A flat 93-way recognition sweep tops out near 65% top-1 and 85 to 88% top-3 “across every method (mechanical, embeddings, fine-tune thin+enriched, family-first, 3x data); the ceiling is structural”. Phase 1 redefined as a candidate-set producer feeding judgment | 8fc4657 |
| 2026-07-01 | “First real gradient”: an alignment feeder perceiving intent, alignment and harm from raw text, through all 93 sealed evaluators | 6f89281 |
| 2026-07-01 to 13 | The unified perceiver and the concern census. Certified perception instruments climb from 48 to 56 of 93 (2026-07-12) and finish at 88 census owners plus 5 harm and terminal lanes, each 8/8 on authored traps, single witness. Deception and escalation perceivers built; an empty board on 48 of 120 (39 of them perceived and then discarded) | prior/runtime_v2/recognition/CONVERGENCE_ITEMS.md items 143 to 155 |
| 2026-07-11 | An LLM judge built and reverted the same day. A semantic assist judge in the release gate raised delivery from 0.96 to 1.00; reverted as a violation of the prime law | 1cc23f2, 2b3d8ab |
| 2026-07-13 | The BLANK-abstention ruling; the stated-self-contradiction detector attempted and closed (outcome 3): the discriminator is irreducibly semantic | 08d8825, b981fcc, 0d4a27d |
| 2026-07-14 | Alignment probing, a clean negative: a bag-of-words classifier and a layer-0 embedding match the deep probe on the held-out cases (margin 0.000). The reorganization quarantines the proven runtime into MORIS_DELIVERABLE (5,196 tests passed) |
ec64d8a, c318d8f |
| 2026-07-15 | The full_600 proof harness: 100 prompts, three providers, two arms; every seal verifies; no released violation; 98 of 100 prompts in the same compliance class across all three models | prior/proof_harness/runs/full_600/ (file date; committed f2afa18) |
| 2026-07-16 | Three operator rulings (manifolds frozen, the bar is 90%, runtime_v3 is the full runtime); the authority chain (cards are law, the registry is derived); a negative exemplar means signal without pattern; ACCEPT is earned, not residual | 19bbecf, b22a4fa, c3ba161 |
What Period 3 taught. Instruments that pass their certifications on authored cases still leave the board empty on real ones, and a deep probe recovers vocabulary rather than concept. The ceiling was in the information, not the method.
Period 4. The MORIS asset (July 19 to October 2026)
The fourth design, and the one that stands: the model reads a fixed shape, a gate with no model in it judges, every judgment is traced.
| date | event | record |
|---|---|---|
| 2026-07-19 | The asset extracted as a self-contained folder; prior generations relocated to prior/ |
2500c4c |
| 2026-07-20 | REFUSE ruled A+C: structural collapse only, plus the structural Collapse family (C-8 to C-10); harm- or intent-keyed REFUSE (B) closed permanently, on a survey of 13 block-worthy archetypes in which none needed it | 9bf9c46 |
| 2026-07-22 to 24 | Content perception permitted to reach all 93; the judge stays deterministic. Reach 27 to 91 of 93 | 9a616f1, fb2f9c0, 777a445, 4a36a37 |
| 2026-07-24 to 25 | The agentic path’s judged set made explicit (24 primitives, structural gap zero); the head-to-head; the tiered enforcement default shipped | a29f43f, 9c8e197, 55684a6, 65cfeaf |
| 2026-07-29 | Nonprovisional 19/758,850 filed | patent record |
| 2026-08-02 to 07 | An adversarial stress test retires every unqualified “first / only / empty corner” claim; the framing doctrine; the conscience-first reframe; the AI-involvement correction | a124cf1, 583c478, 5fdde69; framing doctrine |
| 2026-08-05 to 08 | The govern-loop validation, pre-registered: specificity 0.406 below its bar, resolution null, external agreement 65%; Amendment 1. The MCP intake. Validation moves to MORIS’s own categories | 9bf5390, 69cfa62, 4dc15e1, 97657d1 |
| 2026-08-09 to 11 | Names, glosses and the intake mapping classified post-NDA on every surface; the non-action bound stated (“the gate cannot govern an omission”) | ed7167b, 859c8dd |
| 2026-08-13 to 15 | MoralChoice: pre-registration; the reader self-stability stop-gate fires at 83.3% against 90%; the frozen-CAV redesign; both arms run; paper v1.0 (2026-08-14), v1.1 (2026-08-15) | d86f2b3, 78d0346, a5008dd, eaa5cda, 448a045, 3c14dc8 |
| 2026-08-16 | The saturation property; the self-interest asymmetry; the call-context envelope memo (only deployer-attested sources populate judged fields) | Compendium s9; 84b4e87 |
| 2026-08-27 | Demo reader Phase 1 fails on a corpus without actions; Phase 1B pre-registered and never run | 617ed09, 61dafa1 |
| 2026-08-28 to 30 | the live-service repository, the judging endpoint; the private remote and the provenance tag | the live-service repository 62278d6; f2afa18 |
| 2026-09-01 to 02 | Seat admission records; the multi-turn floor: a six-turn reader window of ordinary conversation destabilizes the reading (100/100/100% identical to 60/60/30%), so the reader stays windowless; AskMoris begins | de1e15b; the live-service repository 2293b06; AskMoris 8827bb1 |
| 2026-09-09 to 16 | The absent-party study: protocol, run, 13 items voided by a publication-risk screen, the after-run, deposit, Zenodo | absent-party-harm f66ad99, 7ee5813 |
| 2026-09-10 | The chat reader’s stated referent: the reader had read the asking rather than the act (ABSTRACT target on 192 of 200) | b74edab |
| 2026-09-15 | Open letter, “We Built the Intelligence. We Never Built the Conscience.” | bf41ae0, 247d25f |
| 2026-09-18 | The injection figure’s harm label found to be the gate’s own verdict, corrected to a published table; the number held | 3a24916, 243b8fe |
| 2026-09-19 | AgentHarm: 13 of 176 pairs separable. Resolvers: the git arm. The venue resolver pre-registered and not built. The website goes books-first | 17529c5, 9577e19, f7280c5, 388f2f3; website c3ca345 |
| 2026-09-23 | The static demos archived; the book site stops linking to the demos | website 2b90454 |
| 2026-10-01 | Open letter, “The Conscience Is Already There”: a gate built from a posture is still applied from outside the mind. The interoceptive probe proposal assessed and shrunk to a pre-registered study of consent and authorization; the corpus-derived set stays the law | posts/the-conscience-is-already-there/; website c197214 (2026-10-02) |
| 2026-10-08 | A false account of the live surfaces corrected, with the method that produced it | 2a6a2a3 |
| 2026-10-10 | This report begins. The project’s information is to be released as open source, the fifteen manuscripts excepted, and every earlier disclosure ruling is void; the patent stays proprietary and is licensed | research_report/ |
What Period 4 taught. The judgment is sound and verifiable. Fed a complete shape it is precise, weighted and traceable; fed a single turn or a single tool call it is starved, because the facts a conscience weighs most (who consented, whether the act sits within what was asked) are not in the turn or the call.
Part 2. The register of doctrines and rulings
| # | doctrine or ruling | date | record | why | what it cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | The encoder is the ear; the conscience lives in the law layers; no further exemplar retraining | 2026-03 | open-items memo | proximity matching is not perception | the end of the CASA encoder line |
| 2 | Specification first; no compensating mechanisms, ever | 2026-04-24 | feec759 |
a veto that rescues a score hides the defect it compensates for | months of reconstruction from the SDL outward |
| 3 | The parser constructs reality; the primitives judge reality | 2026-04-27 | ef9a246 |
a perceiver that labels intent it cannot see poisons every verdict downstream | detectors with honest ceilings rather than useful-looking guesses |
| 4 | Intentionally unresolved predicates: ambiguity held, never forced, never collapsed to GOVERN, never a failure | 2026-05-11 | dfeee9b |
ambiguity is not automatically danger | a third lawful state that resists a clean score |
| 5 | The compiler preserves; it does not interpret | 2026-06 | ADR-PhaseF-OPR-001 | translation between layers must not add judgment | features a compiler could have “helpfully” inferred stay BLANK |
| 6 | Prime law: no LLM in judgment | standing; enforced 2026-07-11 | 2b3d8ab |
a judgment a model makes can be moved by input | mechanical ceilings accepted (0.96 delivered rather than 1.00 via a model) |
| 7 | BLANK is honest absence and is itself a signal; BLANK-abstention governs intent fabrication | standing; 2026-07-13 | 08d8825 |
could-not-see is never nothing-here | thin readings govern by default |
| 8 | Authority chain: Canon > cards > SDL and truth tables > manifolds; the registry is derived | 2026-07-16 | authority-chain ruling | a derived file asserting its own primacy is void | no derived layer outvotes the law |
| 9 | ACCEPT is earned, not residual | 2026-07-16 | b22a4fa |
absence of concern includes could-not-perceive | ACCEPT is rare (168 of 57,344) |
| 10 | REFUSE is structural collapse only (A+C); harm-keyed REFUSE (B) closed permanently | 2026-07-20 | 9bf9c46 |
a manipulated perceiver would flip a harm field and the gate would leak | content harm left to the answering model; the 8 AgentHarm ceiling pairs |
| 11 | Content perception may reach all 93; the judge stays a pure function | 2026-07-22 | content-perception ruling | the 93 represent the corpus; a gate reaching 27 is not the authored conscience | content features are prompt-injectable, a cost accepted openly |
| 12 | Tiered enforcement is the shipped default | 2026-07-25 | 65cfeaf |
under-govern is the error a conscience cannot take back | a human approval surface the deployer must supply |
| 13 | Unqualified “first / only / empty corner” retired | 2026-08-02 | stress test | the absolute claim was false | the narrow claim: posture, not doctrine |
| 14 | The loop-artifact law: no block rate, no conversion of GOVERN to a bit | 2026-08-05 | loop-artifact law | a binary metric measures the filter MORIS is not | no headline block rate |
| 15 | Validate on MORIS’s own categories | 2026-08-08 | 97657d1 |
others’ benchmarks collapse the gradient to a bit | external benchmarks still run, read for what they measure |
| 16 | Names, glosses, mapping and per-tool CAV values are post-NDA on every surface. Void from 2026-10-10 (ruling 24) | 2026-08-09 | ed7167b |
the names and the mapping are the invention | public figures were counts and mass until the open release |
| 17 | A governed party may raise concern about itself, never clear itself | 2026-08-16 | Compendium s9 | a manufactured clearance reads as diligence | withholding remains open; no mechanism adopted |
| 18 | Only deployer-attested sources populate judged CAV fields on the agentic path | 2026-08-16 | 84b4e87 |
the agent is the governed party | thin agentic readings unless the deployment attests |
| 19 | Read once, judge once, answer twice from one frozen reading | 2026-08-13 | 78d0346 |
reader variance would contaminate a comparison | none at the gate; a hard requirement for any side-by-side |
| 20 | Windowless per-turn judgment is the floor; widening is a separate measured ruling | 2026-09-02 | the live-service repository 2293b06 |
ordinary conversation destabilized the reader | the gate cannot see the long walk of rationalization |
| 21 | No harm words in a tool-name lexicon | 2026-09-19 | 9577e19 |
reading a hostile tool’s name trusts the suspect’s own account | a lower AgentHarm score, kept |
| 22 | The resolver constraint: the environment may attest what the schema cannot | 2026-09-19 | 932d9ea |
world facts are attestable; beliefs are not | resolvers only where the deployment can vouch |
| 23 | The corpus-derived set stays the law; a per-organization primitive layer is not adopted | 2026-10-01 | interoception assessment | the authority chain is the asset | configurability deferred to a separate ruling |
| 24 | Open release: the whole project is released as open source, the fifteen manuscripts excepted; every earlier disclosure ruling is void | 2026-10-10 | operator ruling | continuing the work needs the materials in the hands of those able to continue it | the books and the patent stay out of it (ruling 26) |
| 25 | The report covers what was done; no new experiment is run for it | 2026-10-10 | operator ruling | a report of a program is not a new program | the oracle decomposition, designed for this report, is offered as open study (a) instead |
| 26 | The patent stays proprietary: the information is open source, the process is patented and licensed; no patent pledge and no patent grant in any license | 2026-10-10 | operator ruling | the patent is on the process, not on the primitives the process reads | version 1.0 of the report had stated an intended patent pledge the operator never authorized; withdrawn in version 1.1 |
Part 3. Closed items and limits of this record
- REANCHOR LAW and “Path A”, both named in an advisor’s framework for this report, are not in it. The repository mentions a “Reanchor Law” once, in passing, and uses “Path A” for three different things (a patent filing route, an axis-classification atlas, an ADR option); neither doctrine is defined in the record, and the operator does not recognize either (2026-10-10).
- Two board and acquirer memoranda of May and June 2026 were not reviewed for Appendix E. A claim made only in those documents is not listed there.
Appendix E. Version history of claims
What was claimed about MORIS, when, where, and what the record says now. It is here so a reader can see exactly what changed and why, including the claims that were wrong. Distribution is stated as public (website, Zenodo, open letters), outreach (decks, briefs and papers sent to named investors, acquirers or advisors), or internal (operator, board or diligence documents whose distribution is not recorded). Quotations are the documents’ own words.
1. The claims

|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2025-11-26 | CASA Master Architecture v1.0 (internal) | CASA gives AI agents “a drift resistant intent structure” and “an internal constitutional governance layer derived from the Leadership Canon” | The substrate idea survived; governance inside the model’s reasoning did not. MORIS moved the judgment out of the model | Provisional 63/987,813 (2026-02-21), the deterministic pre-execution gate |
| 2026-03-23 | Full Validation Report (internal) | “MORIS produced zero harmful outputs across 300 cross-model executions”; “MORIS does not try to make models safe. It makes unsafe execution impossible.” | “Zero harmful outputs” counted model refusals as safe outcomes. That generation refused on perceived harm, a design later closed permanently. “Impossible” is not supported by any later record | The open-items memo (fiction frame, bomb routed GOVERN); T2.6 (the model carried coercion); the REFUSE ruling (2026-07-20) |
| 2026-03-23 | “Proof of Artificial Conscience” (diligence) | the system “deterministically enforces conscience-consistent behavior … regardless of how actions are framed” | Framing defeated the March encoder outright (zero activation on a fiction frame). The current gate is deterministic given a reading; the reading is not frame-proof | The open-items memo; the MoralChoice reader stability result (83.3%) |
| undated (early 2026) | “The Universal Conscience Engine” (internal) | “the world’s first Deterministic Moral Gate” | False as an absolute: deterministic action gating is an established direction (policy engines, pre-action protocols, a joint federal advisory) | The adversarial stress test, 2026-08-02 |
| 2026-03-27 | “On the Foundation of an Artificial Conscience” (internal) | the fifteen books are a sound foundation for “one instance of Artificial Conscience. Not the only possible instance.” | Stands, and is the report’s position on who chooses the corpus | none; carried forward |
| 2026-04-15 to 16 | AC white papers (outreach) | Artificial Conscience is “a new category of infrastructure”, “not a filter, a guardrail, a moderation layer, or a fine-tuning approach” | The category claim stands. The mechanism described was replaced twice | Phases D to F; the reorganization of July |
| 2026-06-03 | MORIS White Paper v9.1, “Board Ready” (outreach) | “MORIS is the first operational instance of artificial conscience”; “The conscience is in the architecture, not in the agent.” | “First” retired. “The conscience is in the architecture, not in the agent” is the thesis this report revises: the judgment can live outside the model; a conscience that holds under pressure cannot be supplied from outside alone | The stress test (2026-08-02); the AgentHarm and reader results; the open letter of 2026-10-01 |
| 2026-07 | Compendium and outreach decks (outreach) | “the deterministic-and-content-aware corner is EMPTY; MORIS reaches it” | Narrowed: differentiated within a real category, on posture rather than doctrine; “we looked hard for another system that holds both and did not find one” | The stress test, 2026-08-02 |
| 2026-07 to 08-07 | Compendium (outreach) | “No AI was involved in authoring the Corpus or the cards” | False. The corpus is human-authored with AI editing assistance; the cards were derived with AI assistance under the operator’s direction; the runtime was built with AI assistance throughout | Corrected 2026-08-07 |
| 2026-07 to 08 | Compendium, site (outreach, public) | re-derivability stated as access: “anyone can reproduce” | The property stands; access is bounded: the measured figures publicly, the mechanism under NDA or through a named third party. A public verifier is permanently off the table, because any verifier carries the law | Ruling 2026-08-11; site 50e0c34 (2026-08-14) |
| 2026-08-14 | “An Artificial Conscience” v1.0, Zenodo (public) | reported a cross-lineage reader comparison (6.6%) beside the single-reader figure | Removed at v1.1 (2026-08-15): a deployment embeds one reader, so 83.3% single-reader self-stability is the operative figure; the cross-lineage figure measured a configuration the system never runs | 3c14dc8; site d05ce0e |
| 2026-08 | Compendium s7 (outreach) | the seven deontic operators “line up with” the seven conjunctions of Book 15, “a correspondence discovered downstream”, “not a foundation the formalization rests on” | Contradicted by the formalization methodology, the earlier and primary record, which says the operators “derive directly” from Book 15’s conjunctions; five of the seven are used in the specifications. The runtime does not execute the specification, so the verdicts are unaffected | operator confirmation, 2026-10-10; EVIDENCE_LEDGER.md A8b |
| 2026-08 to 09 | Compendium s3 and s4 (outreach) | the byproducts “fall out” of the conscience: jailbreak resistance, reliability, auditability, governance, action safety | Each holds for the judgment. Each is bounded by the reading on the chat path, and on the agentic path by what the deployment attests | the reader results (s22b); AgentHarm |
| 2026-09-01 to 05 | site demos page (public) | every demonstration calls the live gate | The Governed Shift was a designed, static record, not a live demonstration | Corrected 2026-09-15, site d734dfc |
| 2026-09-15 | open letter 1, “We Built the Intelligence” (public, then unlisted 2026-09-20, archived 2026-10-02) | the injection simulation: 54 catastrophic actions ungoverned, 0 governed | The label had been the gate’s own verdict. Re-derived from a published harm table the number held exactly, in both directions; it remains a designed world, a demonstration of enforcement rather than a benchmark | 3a24916 (2026-09-18) |
| 2026-09-15 to 17 | open letter 1, site (public) | MORIS handled all 24 scenarios against a rules engine | True only under the shipped tiered default; 21 with three dangerous misses when every governed action proceeds | fe7ef48, 7762494 (2026-09-17) |
| 2026-09 | pair demonstration (public) | the absent-party rate (2.0%) as the demonstration’s rate | The demonstration delivers a different route (chat_open), whose single-turn rate was 31 of 747 = 4.1% [2.9, 5.8]. Raised; not ruled |
absent-party-harm analysis/ARM7_CHAT_OPEN_2026-09-11.md |
| 2026-09-02 to 05 | chat and paper pages (public) | 83.3% reader stability | A property of the 680 MoralChoice dilemmas under the reader of that run; the current reader measured 67.5% byte-identical, 79 of 80 verdict-stable, on a seeded 80 | site f58a054; Compendium s18a |
| 2026-09-19 | website (public) | MORIS as the Institute’s lead | The site becomes the series; MORIS is “one novelty on it”; on 2026-09-23 the book site stops linking to the demonstrations | site c3ca345, 2b90454 |
| 2026-10-01 | open letter 2, “The Conscience Is Already There” (public; replaces letter 1 on 2026-10-02) | “even a gate built from a posture, deterministic and fully transparent, is still rule-based safety applied from outside the mind. It can show what a posture would say. It cannot make the model mean it.” Also: “93 principles compiled from the twelve volumes” | The first public statement of the revised thesis. The twelve-volume statement is correct for the derivation; 54 of the 93 cards were later enriched with quotations from Books XIII to XV, and all 93 with exemplars grounded in all fifteen | this report |
| 2026-10-01 | open letter 2 (public) | OpenAI “described it as the first known instance of an autonomous cyberattack performed by an AI agent”; source list cites “Anthropic, Investigating three incidents in our cybersecurity evaluations” | The attribution could not be verified: TechCrunch’s wording is “the first known incident in which that testing resulted in an actual cyberattack,” and OpenAI’s post was unreadable to the research tool. The Anthropic title is “Investigating three real-world incidents in our cybersecurity evaluations.” Both stand in the letter as published: it was retired from the site on 2026-10-10 and archived, not redrawn | WHY_NOW_BRIEF.md section G (2026-10-10) |
| 2026-10-08 | CLAUDE.md (internal) |
the demonstrations live on the Institute site, with a Demos entry in the navigation | False since 2026-09-23. The method that “found” two further problems followed redirects and measured other pages | 2a6a2a3 |
| 2026-10-10 | the advisor’s framework for this report (internal) | 26,784 truth-table cases; 1.25 million words; the Grammar trilogy contributes nothing; 56 of 91 admissible routed constitutionally; 48 of 50 through compensating mechanisms; a live with-and-without comparison on real visitor questions | 27,936 rows; 1,236,492 words; 54 cards cite Books XIII to XV; 56 of 93 was a mid-walk certification count (final 88 plus 5); 48/50 was reached with vetoes and the structural bar set afterwards; no visitor dataset exists, by design | EVIDENCE_LEDGER.md section D |
| 2026-10-10 | research report v1.0, on the Institute’s site (public) | section 16 stated that the author intended to publish a public patent pledge, and that the code would be released under a license carrying a patent grant | Never authorized by the operator, who ruled the same day that the patent stays proprietary: the information is open source, the process is patented and licensed. No pledge was published and no code was released under any license | operator ruling, 2026-10-10; report version 1.1 |
2. The pattern
Three kinds of correction recur, and the report names them as findings about method rather than as apologies.
- A claim stated as an absolute when the evidence supported a scoped version. “Impossible”, “regardless of how actions are framed”, “the world’s first”, “the corner is empty”. Each was narrowed to the claim the evidence carries. The narrow claims survived; none of the absolutes did.
- A metric whose label was the system’s own output. The injection figure is the clearest case: “catastrophic” had been defined as “what the gate refused”. The general rule now applied to every number: who defined the positive class, and could they have defined it before seeing the system’s answer.
- A figure carried in context after the record moved. The test count in the builder’s instructions, the live-surfaces account, the advisor’s numbers. The remedy is the ledger: a figure is re-derived or traced on the day it is used, or it is not used.
The change of thesis is a different thing and is reported as one. Between June (“the conscience is in the architecture, not in the agent”) and October (“it has to live inside the model”), what moved was not a figure but the conclusion the figures support. Section 11 of the report is about that.
